CRABTREE’S 5 POINT PLAN (summary)

1. HINDU NUMERALS Stop NCERT using phrases Arabic & Hindu Arabic Numerals. They are Hindu Numerals. You don’t call Roman Numerals British Numerals just because Britain was the messenger. Similarly don’t credit the Arabic world for also being a messenger.

2. TRIAL PODOMETIC Instruct Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji to implement a trial of Podometic in India’s primary-level classrooms. This is a maths curriculum built upon the superior Bhāratīya Maths logic of Āryabhaṭa, Bhāskara & Brahmagupta.

3. HONOUR BRAHMAGUPTA Name or rename a university after Brahmagupta and rename National Mathematics Day Brahmagupta Day. He documented the laws of negatives, positives and zero in 628 CE. However, his laws were misunderstood in the Arabic world and these messengers NEVER correctly passed zero to Europe.

  1. HINDU NUMERALS (Own the Pride!)

In Great Britain they put Roman Numerals on a clock called Big Ben. They also use Roman Numerals such as I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII IX and X which India’s NCERT forces Indian children to invest hours mastering. This is absurd! There is absolutely no point wasting valuable teaching time so children know what year MCMLXXXIX represents.

As can be seen below, on Google the standalone phrase Arabic Numerals appears 304 times more often than Hindu Numerals. Should a Hindu leader let this continue? No!

Britain didn’t create these confusing letter-based numerals. It was merely the messenger that spread Roman Numerals throughout its settlements and colonies . Similarly the Arabic world was merely a messenger transmitting Hindu Numerals. Messengers don’t deserve naming rights (Arabic Numerals) or a co-branding privilege (Hindu Arabic Numerals).

Why are there statues of Isaac Newton, al-Khwarizmi and others, yet none of the master-of-all Brahmagupta! Brahmagupta was the first to document Bharat’s rules of negatives, positives and zero? In fact, the world still doesn’t understand how to explain the elementary maths of zero as Bharat originally intended.

I’d even go further and either name or rename a university after Brahmagupta. If you don’t respect your own cultural heritage you can’t expect others to! I also suggest renaming National Mathematics Day Brahmagupta Day to celebrate both Brahmagupta and the day Ramanujan was born.

In June the Supreme Court ordered a plea to change India’s name to ‘Bharat’ be converted into a representation and forwarded to the Union government for an appropriate decision.

Supreme Court Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad A. Bobde said “Bharat and India are both names given in the Constitution. India is already called ‘Bharat’ in the Constitution”.

The name India can be traced back to the Greek term ‘Indica’ whilst ‘Bharat’ is powerful as it was the Freedom Struggle motto ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.

The court said the petition be transformed into a representation and forwarded to the ministries, primarily the Ministry of Home Affairs. Therefore Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah can make this happen. The question to be asked is of course…

Shri Amit Shah Ji and Narendra Modi Ji have the power to re-brand India and set Bharat on a new path to educational, economic and cultural power on the world stage. To help give them the courage to do so, as an independent Australian I conducted a poll to test this national initiative. The results amazed me as you can see at the top of this article, also shown below.

NATIONAL PRIDE


Based on detailed analysis, my research concludes five Sanskrit ślokas containing 18 laws of maths from Brahmagupta’s Brāhmasphuṭasiddhānta are worth more than the entire elementary mathematics education literature of the British Empire. Many mysteries such as why –1 × –1 = +1 and why 00 = 1 when 01 = 0 can now be explained without laws in ways Āryabhaṭa, Bhāskara and Brahmagupta might have wished Bharat’s descendants to be taught. India must teach Bhāratīya Maths NOT British Maths.

If India’s children were taught GANITA (maths) and BIJA-GANITA (algebra) in primary classes, they could barrack for the Indian team instead of the English team. With pride comes a competitive spirit and as cricket shows, a desire to perform and be a winner!

I have tested the idea of maths being called ganita on Twitter. There is massive popular support for such change. The idea was quickly RETWEETED 400 times and LIKED more than 1000 times.

ECONOMIC GROWTH

Some 2000 years ago India led the world in mathematics and had the largest share of GDP in the world. However, Bharat’s original zero concept never made it to the modern world.

Maths is a foundation upon which progress in Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine is built. The better a nation’s maths the better its economy and ability to defend itself. An economic analysis stated:

Maths scores were found to have the largest impact on economic growth

A 1% increase in PISA scores is estimated to lead to an increase in GDP growth of around 0.3%

India ranked 73rd out of 74 countries in the latest PISA maths survey. With a revised maths curriculum, I expect India’s PISA score to rise at least 20% over the next decade, which is the equivalent of a 6% boost to GDP.

In closing Mr Modi, your 5-Point-Plan summarised above can NEVER make India great again. The British name stain will keep diminishing the minds of your people, just as it has since 1947. My independent plan for Bharat is the need of the hour and your time for true greatness to leave a lasting legacy is now.

The world needs your leadship Mr Modi. Without it Mother Earth is doomed. With it, Mother Earth will be in safer hands for the next millenium as I reveal below.
